To stay you can choose between 5 star hotels like JW Marriott, Taj, Lalit etc. Or from several boutique hotels located in sectors 35 and 43 (both are right nexg to each other). There are also plenty of budget hotels on OYO and you get coupons/deals from apps like Little and Nearbuy.
Chandigarh is a foodie heaven!
- Breakfast:
- The breakfast at JW Marriott (included with the stay or you can purchase a deal from Little for INR 750) is the best in town.
- There are several other chic cafes like The willow cafe, Backpaper’s Cafe, Nik Bakers, Oven Fresh etc. that offer excellent Indian and continental breakfast (INR 500 per person). These are all day breakfast and snack cafes (8 am – 11 pm).
- The Indian Coffee House is an old establishment in Chandigarh with 2 locations (sector 17 and 36). It offers authentic south Indian cuisine at very nominal prices (INR 100 per person). Other south Indian options include Karthick in sector 46, several outlets of Sagar Ratna and Shree Rathnam. These are again all day breakfast places. You can also enjoy these dishes for lunch.
- Then there are stalls in sector 15 market which offer everything from stuffed paranthas, Chinese, different types of eggs and beverages at very nominal rates (INR 100 per person). This is a student heaven being walking distance from Punjab University and offers all the dishes all day long (8 am – 11 pm).
- Lunch: For lunch you can head over to:
- Hotels: Again hotels like Taj and Marriott offer scrumptious but expensive lunch.
- Restaurants: There are literally hundreds of restaurants in sectors 35, 43 and 26 offering everything from Indian, Chinese, Lebanese, Thai, and American Diner foods. There are places like BBQ Nation and Pirates of Grill that offer unlimited buffets.
- Dhabas: Legendary punjabi dhabas like Pal Dhaba, Swarn Da Dhaba and Deluxe Dhaba that offer spicy punjabi non veg and veg food all through the day (these are not inexpensive anymore though).
- Inner markets: You can head out to small foodie markets like sector 9 and sector 8 where you can find take away joints serving several different cuisines and bakeries for your sweet tooth.
- Dinner: The options for dinner are pretty much the same as lunch with some additions in the shape of rehris/carts/stalls that serve seasonal foods like fish fry and soups in the winters or cool desserts and salads in the summer. These are scattered all over Chandigarh but ask a local (like a waiter at your hotel or best some acquaintance ) for the best options.
