Things To Do
Delhi is an eventful city. Besides the occasional music concert, food-festival and live performances, the city hosts a variety of cultural events and programmes. Here’s our quick list of the best things to do in Delhi.
Mandi House:
For those interested in drama and art exhibitions this is the place to go. The National School of Drama conducts festivals throughout the year, showcasing diverse plays from different parts of the country. There are several art exhibitions by individual artists and those affiliated to the College of art and the Triveni Kala Sangam.
The Aravali Range:
Sanjay Vann and the Deer Park in hauz khas village are perfect getaways after having ventured into the busy streets of Delhi. Here you get to experience the fauna and flora that is housed by the oldest range in India, not to mention the fresh air the landscape brings with it.
Monuments and Architectural sites:
There are awe instilling monuments like the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb and the Qutub Minar; all of which are UNESCO heritage centres. There are also beautiful architectural structures like the lotus temple, Akshardham, India Gate and more. Don’t forget the National Meuseum, the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), the trippy doll’s museum, rail bhawan, planetarium… one could go on for a while.
Chandni Chowk:
One of the oldest markets in Delhi, you will notice buildings from the 17th century still being used as shops (after undergoing slight remodelling for structural stability if at all). This market offers a wide variety of things ranging from clothes to spices to traditional food. The Chor Bazaar in the near vicinity also caters to the antique lovers. If you are lucky you can lay claim to a 19th century victorian pram.

Delhi is famous for its street food and its Mughalai cuisine. The Paranthe Wali Gali houses shops selling fresh exotic paranthas with intriguing ingredients. There’s all kinds of flavours to be explored here. Follow it up with lassi or rabdi. For good digestion, stuff a meetha paan into your mouth. Later in the evening, head to Dilli Haat for exploring cuisines from all around India. If it’s a sunday, we recommend the biryani in Bijoli Grill. Else, the momos and fruit beer are a mandate for the evening snackers.
Connaught Place and Hauz Khas houses some of Delhi’s finest pubs and clubs to jazz up your nightlife with an ale of your choice and some music on the house.
