Chittaranjan Park

Located in the heart of South Delhi, Chittaranjan Park or commonly called CR Park houses the largest Bengali community in Delhi NCR. Also known as the ‘Mini Bengal of Delhi’, this neighbourhood draws people across the city for its authentic Bengali stores and eateries.

From lip-smacking Puchkas, spicy Jhal Muri to delicious Ghugni, the place provides a wide range of options to food lovers who are vegetarian. Delighting the non-vegetarians with equal fervour, it offers everything from Mutton Kebab Rolls, Chicken and Egg Kathi Rolls to Fish Cutlets. The best time to visit this place is during the festivals of Kali Puja and Durga Puja, when people gather in large numbers at the food stalls to savour these Bengali delicacies.

Kamla Nagar

Kamla Nagar, a trendy marketplace with numerous shopping and eating joints, is located in the heart of Delhi University North Campus. The place has been named after Smt. Kamla Nehru, the patriot and wife of the first Indian Prime Minister, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru.

From Pav Bhaji, Gol Gappay, Tikki to Papdi Chaat, Kamla Nagar offers a surfeit of North Indian street food. A big hit among students are also its Chinese eateries, which offer dishes like Vegetable Manchurian, American Chop Suey, Hakka Noodles, Steamed Momos, etc.

Karol Bagh

One of the best-known wholesale markets in Delhi, Karol Bagh is also a place mostly visited for its street food. From Indian snacks, American fast foods, traditional attires, high-end beauty products to electronic gadgets, this market has something for everyone.

This neighbourhood houses several iconic street food shops like the ‘OM Corner’ that sells one-of-a-kind Chhole Bhature, the ‘Art of Spices’ that serves some of the best rolls in West Delhi and ‘Roshan di Kulfi’, known as the oldest shop in Karol Bagh. Once here, it’s also worth checking out the ‘Ganesh Restaurant’ for its succulent Chicken Tikkas!

Nizamuddin

Home to the renowned Nizamuddin Dargah, Nizamuddin is one of the oldest areas of the capital. Its narrow lanes and bylanes are popular hangout destinations of food lovers craving for some of the best North Indian and street food.

There are plenty of options starting from Chicken Seekh Kebab, Tangdi Kebab, Mutton Tikka, etc. for meat lovers. One great non-vegetarian joint here is the ‘Ghalib Kebab Corner’, whose delicacies were awarded the best kebab award at the Maurya Sheraton Kebab festival. Though options for vegetarian food are limited in the area, there are still some great eateries to explore. One such place is ‘Zaika-e-Nizamuddin’, a social project run by local women belonging to the low-income group. Using 700-yeat-old recipes, they make some delicious home-made foods like Soya Kebab, Hara Bhara Kebab, and Veg Biryani.

Lajpat Nagar Market is a famous shopping destination in the capital for shoppers on the lookout for budget-friendly goods. In addition to this, the market is also a hot favourite when it comes to excellent street food and local delicacies.

Chandni Chowk

Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets of Delhi was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. It was one of the most important streets in the historical city of Shahjahanabad. The market has been redeveloped to revive its faded glory with world-class infrastructure, fully pedestrianised streets and non-motorised transport lanes.

It is one of the few places in the capital that is not just a shopper’s paradise but also a street food lover’s haven. Most of the eateries in this marketplace have attained a legendary status and are well-known for some of the best North Indian and Mughlai delicacies.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the crowded marketplace, there are innumerable shops at the iconic ‘Parathe Wali Gali’ that serve rich stuffed parathas with tangy pickles and sweet tamarind dips. To satiate your snack cravings, visit ‘Nai Sadak’, and enjoy the tempting Kachoris, Chhole Bhature and Aloo Tikkis.
